MGRC Recent News

Applications are now available for participation in the 2017 cohort of the Middle Georgia Regional Leadership Champions program. The inaugural class was commissioned in August 2015. Future cohorts will be charged with continuing their work toward a thriving Middle Georgia. Specifically, this will include a focus on education and its connections to economic development and quality of life within the region.

The Middle Georgia Regional Leadership Champions program is a unique program which focuses on leadership development in the context of regionalism and collaboration. Program participants will be tasked with developing strategies for community improvement which build upon the regional vision and encourage innovative solutions that enhance cooperation across city and county boundaries.

Applications are due Friday, December 2, 2016 at 5:00 PM. Visit the MGRC website for more information about the program, as well as for the program application. Applicants will be required to complete the application form as well as the signed participant and employer commitment form. Program participants will be expected to attend each session, including the overnight retreat in January to be held at Lake Lanier. Active and consistent participation is essential to the successful implementation of the program, and will allow each participant to gain a broader range of leadership experience and expertise.

The Middle Georgia Regional Leadership Champions program is sponsored by the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, with funding assistance from the Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment. MGRC has contracted with the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Georgia to lead implementation efforts of the MGRLC program. The Fanning team brings a wealth of experience in leadership training from a variety of groups and topics all across the state.
